Steph Curry Says He Would Put Two Players Ahead of Himself in NBA GOAT Debate—but Not LeBron
A former NBA star recently said that Steph Curry would only put two players ahead of him when talking about the greatest basketball player ever. The debate about who’s the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) is still going strong, with fans having lots of different opinions.
Many people think Michael Jordan is the greatest because of his amazing time with the Chicago Bulls in the ‘90s, where he won two sets of three championships in a row. Others look up to Kobe Bryant, who spent 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers and won five titles. Then there’s LeBron James, who’s now in his 23rd NBA season and chasing his fifth championship with the Lakers.
Some basketball fans feel that Steph Curry, the star of the Golden State Warriors, has changed the game more than anyone, including LeBron. Curry’s incredible three-point shooting has changed how players score, and he’s made over 4,100 three-pointers in his career.
On The Big Podcast with Shaq, former NBA player Carmelo Anthony said Curry would only rank two players above himself on the GOAT list. Carmelo said, “How can you talk about the GOATs and not include Steph?” Shaquille O’Neal replied, “I said that before,” and Carmelo kept going, saying you just can’t leave Curry out.
Carmelo also shared who he thinks Curry would put above himself. “In Steph’s mind, it’s probably Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, then me,” he said. “He wouldn’t put LeBron over himself, but he definitely has a strong case.”
Curry has talked about where he sees himself in the GOAT debate too. In 2022, when asked to choose between him and Jordan, he joked, “Mike, I love you man but it’s me.” When asked about LeBron, he said, “What do you expect me to say? It’s me.”
Just last month, LeBron said great things about Curry, praising the way he scores in different ways. On Mind the Game, LeBron said, “Steph, I’m always moving, and I’ll find my spots because of the energy I bring for our team and the way our opponents get nervous. That makes Steph the greatest shooter ever and one of the biggest threats in NBA history.”
