Dani Olmo finally speaks out about Argentina coach who hit him after World Cup final
Dani Olmo has responded to Argentina coach Roberto Ayala’s apology after they had a clash following the World Cup final.
The two got into a scuffle when Ayala raised his hand near Olmo’s neck during the chaotic moments after the match between Spain and Argentina.
There were other tense moments too: Argentina’s Leandro Paredes seemed to grab Spain’s Eric Garcia by the throat and push Gavi to the ground, while Nahuel Molina threw a punch at Spain’s captain Rodri. Thiago Almada was also involved in the chaos.
Earlier, Enzo Fernandez was sent off after a second yellow card for a tough tackle on Spain’s Pau Cubarsi. Argentina also faced criticism for turning their backs on Spain while holding the World Cup trophy.
FIFA has started looking into the incidents, and Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente called Argentina’s behavior “unacceptable.”
On July 22, Ayala apologized publicly to Olmo on Valencia Capital Radio but denied punching him. He said it was more of a push than a punch, a reaction to something Olmo said, and promised to apologize in person if they meet.
However, Olmo didn’t accept the apology. He told Diari de Terrassa that Ayala was “lying.” Olmo said he didn’t say anything to cause the reaction and that true courage is owning up to mistakes honestly and with respect.
He also said he wants his family and fans to be proud of how they played and behaved because football players set an example for kids and future generations.
In the end, Olmo shared that what really matters is they had an amazing World Cup and became world champions after a lot of hard work.
