Man Utd has six days left to finalize a deal for an important transfer target as frustration builds.
Manchester United is getting ready for their first full season with Michael Carrick as the permanent manager. They’ve been busy in the transfer market to give him the players he needs to build on his work from last season.
So far, they’ve added two key new players: Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa and Andrey Santos from Chelsea. United is looking to strengthen their midfield even more after losing Casemiro, whose contract ended last season, and then having Manuel Ugarte ruled out with a long-term injury.
Lately, there have been talks about Aurelien Tchouameni possibly moving to Old Trafford, as Real Madrid looks to raise money to sign Spain’s captain Rodri. But one club has given United just six days to finalize the signing of one of their players so they can plan their own season, as they need the funds from the sale.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma wants United to complete the signing of their midfielder and French international Manu Kone by July 31st. This is because of a financial agreement with UEFA, which the club must follow.
The report says: “Roma wants to complete the transfer by July 31 to meet the rules of the settlement agreement, which UEFA extended until the end of the month.”
Earlier reports from Gazzetta explained that Roma needs to sell a star player this summer to meet important financial rules and avoid a €10-15 million fine. Mile Svilar and Evan Ndicka were possible players to leave, but now it looks like Roma is ready to let Kone, who impressed for France at the World Cup, go instead.
Corriere said earlier in the week that Manchester United and Kone have agreed on personal terms. Roma wants about €60 million, while United is hoping to pay around €50 million.
Roma is getting a bit frustrated because they want the deal done so they can focus on other transfers. The money from selling Kone is important for them.
At the same time, Gian Piero Gasperini’s team might be worried about United’s strong interest in Kone’s French teammate Tchouameni. If United signs Tchouameni from Real Madrid, they probably won’t sign Kone, since they’ve already brought in several central midfielders.
