Yan Diomande has made his final transfer choice as an unexpected club joins the race for the Arsenal and Liverpool target.
Yan Diomande has finally decided which club he wants to join after leaving RB Leipzig this summer, despite interest from Liverpool, PSG, Arsenal, and a surprise fourth team. The 19-year-old winger has been in high demand after an amazing first Bundesliga season. He scored 12 goals and made eight assists, and even played for Ivory Coast at the World Cup.
Ivory Coast made it to the round of 32 but lost a close game, 2-1, to Norway. Diomande played really well throughout the tournament. Many thought he would leave Leipzig soon, even though the club’s sporting director, Marcel Schafer, said he would stay.
PSG and Liverpool, both linked to the £100 million-rated winger, are still interested. Arsenal joined the race after missing out on signing Morgan Rogers, who went to Chelsea instead. After that, Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal reached out to Diomande’s representatives about a possible transfer.
But now there’s a surprise fourth club: Real Madrid. The Athletic shared that Real Madrid, managed by Jose Mourinho, is talking with Leipzig about the Ivorian star. Real has already signed four players since Mourinho returned, and they’re also working on signing World Cup winner Rodri from Manchester City.
According to TEAMtalk, Diomande prefers a move to PSG, the team he loved growing up. He told French media, “Paris Saint-Germain is a team I’ve loved since I was little. I think my father was a PSG supporter. It’s a team I admire as a football fan.”
However, Real’s interest has made things more interesting. Diomande is now open to joining Real if PSG can’t agree on a good deal with Leipzig. The Champions League winners haven’t made an offer yet, and Diomande is already back in pre-season training after his World Cup break.
PSG’s slow moves are reportedly causing Diomande frustration, but he hasn’t said much about his future except for a brief comment during the World Cup. When asked about PSG and Liverpool’s interest, he said he expects to leave Leipzig this summer.
“First of all, my dream is playing for my country and making history with them,” he told reporters. “I don’t have Instagram or TikTok anymore, so I can’t see anything! But I expect to leave, of course. I have an agent who will take care of the rest. Right now, my main focus is the World Cup with my country.”
