Liverpool make unexpected move for Bradley Barcola’s teammate as PSG submit offer
Liverpool is on the lookout for a new winger and have now shown interest in a player linked with PSG.
Last week, new Liverpool coach Andoni Iraola said in his first press talk that the team needs “more players” after some key players left recently. Andy Robertson moved to Tottenham after his contract ended, and Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate have also left the club.
Liverpool already signed Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet this summer, but Iraola wants to strengthen the squad further, especially in the attacking positions. They need a winger to compete with Munoz, Rio Ngumoha, and Cody Gakpo.
Their top target was Yan Diomande, but he prefers joining PSG. Another player on their list is Bradley Barcola, but PSG values him at a huge £120 million, making a move to Liverpool unlikely.
Now, according to Sky Sports, Liverpool have made a first move to sign Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche and have checked if he’s available. Akliouche has become one of Europe’s most exciting wingers after a great season with Monaco.
The 24-year-old scored 7 goals and made 11 assists, catching PSG’s attention. PSG has made several offers, the latest around £34 million (€40 million). With Salah gone and Hugo Ekitike injured, Iraola needs more attacking options and sees Akliouche as a possible solution.
Akliouche even made France’s World Cup squad and played a bit in their 3-0 win over Iraq. Many clubs across Europe rate him highly.
Known for his speed and great dribbling, Akliouche could be a great fit for Liverpool, especially because he can play in different attacking roles. Unlike other targets like Diomande and Barcola, he’s seen as more affordable.
Liverpool showed interest in Akliouche back in May, and reports say he might be available for around £42 million (€50 million). For a young France international, he could be a fantastic and smart choice now that other players are too expensive.
