Man Utd looks at Alex Scott as an option while considering six other midfielders after getting an update on Aurelien Tchouameni.
Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing six midfielders, and there’s some news about Aurelien Tchouameni’s future too.
This summer, United’s head coach Michael Carrick has already welcomed midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans after Casemiro left for Inter Miami. But it looks like United want to keep strengthening their midfield ahead of what should be an exciting 2026/27 season, competing in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
They’re aiming to add both quality and depth to their squad and are linked with several players. Earlier this summer, United were interested in Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali, and Mateus Fernandes but missed out, as those players joined Manchester City and Spurs.
Still, United aren’t giving up. Director of football Jason Wilcox is happy to be patient and explore other options before the September 1 deadline. Real Madrid’s Tchouameni is seen as a top target, with reports saying Madrid might sell him if the price is right. If Rodri moves to Real Madrid, it could make Tchouameni’s exit more likely.
Brighton’s Carlos Baleba is a long-term target, and Bournemouth’s Scott and Roma’s Manu Koné are also on United’s radar. Fulham and Norway midfielder Sander Berge is another possibility.
On The United Stand talk show, journalist Ben Jacobs shared how likely United are to sign these players. He also mentioned that another Bournemouth player might be on their list alongside Scott, who is also being chased by Chelsea. Chelsea recently had a £64 million bid turned down by Bournemouth.
“Scott is definitely a priority, but the price is high, so Manchester United will have to think carefully before making a move,” Jacobs said. “United actually asked about Scott before Chelsea made their bid.”
“Kone is high on their list too. Arsenal and Chelsea have been interested, but no big moves happened since the player’s been busy with the World Cup. We’ll have to wait and see.”
Jacobs also said United are still interested in Bournemouth and US National Team midfielder Tyler Adams, who they were linked with back in 2025.
“Tyler Adams is on the list and still an option,” Jacobs added.
Adams, 27, has played for Leeds, Bournemouth, RB Leipzig, and New York Red Bulls. He’s under contract with Bournemouth until 2028 and could cost around £35 million.
Jacobs finished by saying, “Carlos Baleba shouldn’t be ruled out, and of all these players, Tchouameni is probably at the very top of the list.”
Manchester United will begin their Premier League season away at Hull City on August 22.
