Trick Williams makes exciting WrestleMania promise after sharing how John Cena helped him rise in WWE
Rising star Trick Williams shared his exciting goals to headline WrestleMania as he continues his fast climb in WWE.
After sharpening his skills in NXT, Trick moved up to WWE’s main roster at the start of the year. Right away, fans loved him for his natural charm and energy. He even won the United States Championship at his first WrestleMania in Las Vegas by beating Sami Zayn.
This weekend, the former football player hits another big WWE event by making his SummerSlam debut at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He’ll defend his title against the recently returned Baron Corbin, who Trick sees as just another challenge on his path to becoming the top star in wrestling.
In an exclusive interview with SPORTbible, Trick playfully described Corbin as “the big bald-headed bum” and said, “He jumped on me thinking he could prove he still has it, but I don’t think he really wants to wrestle anymore. I think he just wants one more shot and maybe to fund some fancy things for himself. But I’m hungry, and I want to be the best, to headline WrestleMania for many years. Corbin doesn’t have that hunger like I do.”
With his sharp talk and impressive physique, fans have compared him to The Rock and Booker T. Wearing white clothes and a fur coat, Trick brings star power to every appearance. His entrance, with fans cheering “Whoop that Trick,” was a huge hit at WrestleMania in Vegas.
Talking about that moment, he said, “There were 55,000 people all cheering for me beating Sami Zayn. It was an unforgettable feeling that left me hungry for more.”
He added, “None of this was guaranteed. Wrestling wasn’t even on my radar until later in life, so living this dream every week is amazing. These are some of the best days of my life so far.”
Trick’s quick rise is also featured in the new season of ‘WWE Unreal’ on Netflix, a behind-the-scenes look at WWE life. While some fans feel the show reveals too much, Trick believes it helps show a real side of him and his relationship with his wife, fellow WWE star Lash Legend.
He explained, “Trick Williams is just a shorter name for my true self, Mattrick. The show lets you see who I really am. Mattrick and Trick are the same person—Trick is just a turned-up version. I’m glad people get to see that.”
He also shared that many of the moments on ‘Unreal’ were caught unexpectedly, and sometimes he didn’t even realize the cameras were rolling, which made those scenes very real and natural.
One special moment caught on camera was when John Cena gave Trick and fellow wrestler Oba Femi a pep talk right before their big WrestleMania debuts. Trick praised Cena for being generous with his advice and support.
“John Cena has been amazing, always taking time to guide us. He’s there for the next generation, and that means a lot,” Trick said.
Another big help to Trick has been working with Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Yachty, who is now his manager. Yachty’s love of WWE and fresh style add an extra spark to Trick’s act.
Talking about Yachty, Trick said, “He’s good people and truly loves this business. When you work with someone passionate like him, it’s a win. We’ve figured out how to make it work, and we’re just getting started.”
