Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have an amazing chance to become world champions once more.
Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have a huge chance to become world champions as they near the later stages of their boxing careers.
These two British fighters seem set to face off to decide who is the best heavyweight of their time.
In July, both had warm-up fights—Fury stopped Mariusz Wach in an untelevised match in Thailand, and just a day later, Joshua won his comeback fight against Kristian Prenga after recovering from a tragic car crash that took the lives of two close friends.
There’s no official date yet for Fury vs Joshua, but there’s already some debate about where the fight will happen. Many hope it will be at Wembley Stadium in the UK, but Turki Alalshikh wants it to take place in the United States to fit better with American TV times. He’s pushing for New York’s famous Madison Square Garden, which is also where Netflix will stream the fight.
If the fight between Fury and Joshua doesn’t happen, both have another chance to become world champ for a third time.
Oleksandr Usyk, who defeated both Fury and Joshua to take over the heavyweight titles, gave up his WBA, IBF, and WBC belts in June before his last fight and retirement.
This has opened up the division, benefiting fighters like Murat Gassiev. The Russian was made full champion after Usyk stepped down and recently defended his title successfully against Peter Kadiru.
Gassiev isn’t finished yet. He’s challenged both Fury and Joshua and even said he’d fight them in England if needed.
He told the Mirror, “They are both great fighters and good people. I respect them a lot. I would say yes to fighting them in England because I’ve never been there before. Tyson and Anthony are still top-level fighters and tough opponents. Anthony showed in his last fight that even if he gets hurt by one punch, he can recover and win—that’s heavyweight boxing. Both are still world-class and can fight for titles.”
Fury has said 2026 will be his last year fighting, though he has retired from boxing five times already.
Joshua hasn’t said much about his future plans yet.
