An Arsenal player liked a post saying it’s ‘time to go’ after playing in a pre-season friendly.
An Arsenal player has got fans chatting after liking a TikTok comment that suggested he should leave the club this summer.
Mikel Arteta’s team played their latest pre-season match at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi on Saturday (August 1). Goals from Kai Havertz, new signing Christos Tzolis, Max Dowman, and Gabriel Jesus helped the Premier League champions secure a 4-1 win against Spain’s Girona.
Arteta started with a strong lineup, including Riccardo Calafiori, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Havertz, and Victor Gyokeres. He later made 14 substitutions during the friendly match.
One of those changes saw Reiss Nelson come on for Tzolis in the 61st minute. Even though Nelson played for nearly half an hour, it was his activity on social media that grabbed fans’ attention more than his performance. He shared a short TikTok of himself dancing in a fancy living room, sipping from a cup, and wearing sunglasses.
Fans quickly joined the conversation in the comments, with many talking about his future at Arsenal. Nelson has spent the last two seasons on loan at Fulham and Brentford but hasn’t been able to really jump-start his career.
One comment Nelson liked said, “Loved the Bournemouth goal but it’s time for u to go bro. Tell the same to Viera and Jesus; we need your wages for Vini.”
He also liked another comment asking Arsenal to give him more chances this season, since he has only played 90 games for the club since turning professional in 2016.
Besides these, Nelson liked a few other comments, including one calling him the “pre-season king” and another asking him to show more on the field.
One fan even showed support, saying, “Don’t mind the top comment. True Arsenal fans would never say that. This club is like family. That Bournemouth goal is one of my top five Arsenal moments, alongside last season’s league win. As long as you’re wearing the kit and under contract, you’re a Gunner and deserve our support. Love you, Reiss!”
Nelson is signed with Arsenal until 2027 and reportedly earns about £100,000 a week after signing a new long-term deal in 2023, just months after his late winner against Bournemouth.
Arsenal are still getting ready to defend their Premier League title, with a friendly against Real Betis in Dublin on August 5, followed by matches against Borussia Dortmund and Como at the Emirates on August 9 and 12.
The Gunners will then face Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 16 before starting their Premier League season at home against newly promoted Coventry on August 21.
