Donald Trump stirs up a new cheating controversy and throws shade at golfers after winning his 43rd championship.
Donald Trump had some fun teasing his rivals after winning two Championship titles at his Bedminster golf course.
When he’s not busy as the President of the United States, Trump is known to really enjoy playing golf. At 80 years old, he owns over 10 golf courses across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and often plays with celebrities, athletes, and politicians.
During his first term, Trump visited his own properties 428 times in 1,461 days, playing around 261 rounds of golf — that’s about once every 5.6 days. And it looks like he’s kept up the habit in his second term too, with an estimated 125 days of golf out of 561 days back in office, which is about 22% of his time.
Recently, Trump scored an impressive two-under 70 at Bedminster in New Jersey, winning both the Senior and Super Senior Men’s Club Championships. That brings his total number of championship wins across his golf courses to 43, with both titles coming in 2023 and the Senior Championship again in 2024.
Trump made sure to share his success on social media, boasting about his win with a sharp comment aimed at other golfers. He wrote, “I won with a score of 70, and am so honoured that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practise because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!”
Back in 2023, after another win, he also said, “For some reason, I am just a good golfer/athlete – I have won many Club Championships, and it is always a great honor!”
Even the White House joined in congratulating him on his 2024 title, sharing a picture of his scorecard and saying, “Winning on and off the course.”
Of course, we can only take Trump’s word for it when it comes to his scores. There have been long-running rumors that he might bend the rules on the golf course. Sports writer Rick Reilly even wrote in his book *Commander in Cheat* that Trump has been seen kicking his golf ball to improve his position. At one club, caddies nicknamed him “Pele” for this very reason!
In 2016, actor Samuel L. Jackson accused Trump of cheating, and recently, Senator Lindsey Graham, a close Trump ally, hinted that Trump and his caddie might sometimes bend the rules too. Graham said, “Some people say you may outdrive him, but you’re not going to outdrive his caddy. It is what it is.”
Trump has always denied any cheating claims, sticking to his story as a talented golfer who plays fair.
