Real Madrid have made their final offer to Vinicius Junior, and it changes everything in the Arsenal story.
Arsenal might finally have a chance to sign Vinicius Jr because Real Madrid have made their last offer to the star winger and aren’t willing to change it. After winning a big trophy under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal seem ready to spend big in the summer transfer window.
So far, Arsenal have made Piero Hincapie’s loan move permanent, and they’ve also signed a new winger, Christos Tzolis, and a backup goalkeeper, Illan Meslier. They’ve also been linked with some big names expected to be key players for Arteta, including a possible big double signing of Bruno Guimaraes and Vinicius Jr.
Guimaraes is expected to join Arsenal soon for around £80 million, but getting Vinicius will be tougher. Vinicius is 26 and his contract with Real Madrid runs out next June. If they can’t agree on a new deal, Madrid may have to sell him soon.
Right now, Vinicius earns about €17.5m (£15m) a year but wants a new contract paying around €30m (£25.7m) including bonuses, which is more than Madrid want to pay. After weeks of talks, Real Madrid’s final offer is around €22m (£18.8m) a year. It’s not clear how long the contract would be, but if Vinicius doesn’t accept, Madrid might let him go in the next few weeks.
If he rejects the offer, Arsenal could step in with a deal likely over £100 million. This news comes just after it was revealed that the main issue is a renewal bonus Vinicius wants, which Real Madrid don’t want to agree to. Madrid worry that paying the bonus could lead to other players asking for big money too, which would be very expensive.
In the end, Vinicius’ future depends on his agents, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, and of course, Vinicius himself.
