Former WWE star gives first update to fans worried about his health after independent show

Former WWE star Ethan Carter III (EC3) wanted to ease fans’ worries after some concerns popped up about how he was doing during a recent ASW event in Canada.

EC3, whose real name is Michael Hutter, caught attention after challenging Leon Lokombo for the heavyweight title. After two runs in WWE, he’s now part of the ASW roster. But after such a tough and long career, he’s showing a bit of wear and tear.

In a recent video, EC3 moved a little stiffly during his ring entrance, which made fans on social media worry about him. But he shared a message to reassure everyone and explain why he looked like that.

On social media platform X, he wrote: “Here’s some real context: the clip you’re seeing is from my second match that day. I had a 4:00 a.m. wake-up, international travel, layover airport cardio, multiple flights, a tough workout when I landed, plus an entrance where I was really selling a sore leg.

‘Selling’ is part of wrestling—it means showing that you’re hurt, tired, or protecting yourself. It’s all about telling the story in the ring.

Travel, sleep loss, eating at odd times, and sitting for hours can mess up your body’s rhythm too. Your digestive system doesn’t care about match times or bathroom breaks!

Anyone who keeps low body fat knows their body can look different from day to day, even hour to hour, just because of normal body changes. I keep myself pretty fit, but I’m not interested in spending my life trying to prove it online.

I’d rather focus on helping the next generation of wrestlers be physically strong, creatively free, mentally tough, and confident—way more than how I was taught. After 20 years of wrestling, travel, hard times, and injuries, I’ve learned a lot through trial and error.

At Exodus Pro, we build training based on those lessons—smarter strength, better nutrition, recovery, good movement, longevity, creative freedom, and positive mindset. Because some of us want to be the people we wished we had when we started. Not because it’s trendy, but because I don’t want the next wrestlers paying the same prices I did just to figure out what works.

That’s where I put my energy, not into mirror selfies or online arguments.

Right now, I’m sitting at another airport layover. If you need me, I’ll be at the D gates, getting my steps in, working on my ankle, doing weird stretches, and getting ready to do it all over again. Building wrestlers. Building people. Trying to leave this business better than I found it—or until someone finally beats me up.”
