The football rule fans wish would be taken away

New research from Gillette shows that over three-quarters of fans (76%) think players should be allowed to take their shirt off to celebrate a huge goal without getting a yellow card.
In fact, half of the fans think the yellow card for this celebration should be completely scrapped, while another 29% say it should only be allowed during special moments.
More Than Just a Celebration
Why do players take their shirts off? The study found it shows real passion and emotion. More than half of fans said it makes big goals feel even more dramatic, and 61% said it’s the best way to celebrate a last-minute winner.
Most fans (85%) know that players in the top leagues get booked automatically for taking their shirts off, but fewer know that grassroots players and local clubs can also be punished for it.
Is It Worth the Yellow Card?
Even knowing they might get booked, 64% of fans still want to see players celebrate this way. Fans especially feel it’s OK for big moments—like a last-minute winner, scoring in tournament knockouts, winning promotion, making a comeback, or scoring a stunning goal.
