Man Utd plans to sign World Cup star after news on Lewis Hall transfer
Manchester United might look at another Premier League player if they can’t sign Lewis Hall this summer. Even though they’ve already brought in Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans, and Karl Darlow, the team wants to strengthen their squad more for a busy season ahead. They’ll be playing in the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
United want to add a midfielder, a striker, and a left-back to the team. Lewis Hall is their top choice for left-back to challenge Luke Shaw. Hall is 21 and currently with Newcastle United, where he signed a contract until 2029 after joining from Chelsea in 2024. He played a lot last season — 30 Premier League games and 10 Champions League matches — and he’s an important player for Newcastle under manager Eddie Howe.
However, signing Hall might be tough because Newcastle have already sold key players this summer, like Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, and Bruno Guimarães might be joining Arsenal soon. Newcastle doesn’t appear to be under pressure to sell Hall.
So, if United can’t get Hall, they might turn to Fulham’s left-back Antonee Robinson, according to talkSPORT. Robinson is from the USA, came through Everton’s academy, and has a lot of Premier League experience with 158 appearances. He also played in the World Cup, helping the USA reach the round of 16. He’s under contract with Fulham until 2028.
Alex Crook from talkSPORT said United are ready to spend up to £60 million on Hall, but Newcastle has made a lot of money this summer and might want to keep him. Crook also mentioned Robinson as a cheaper option who’s on United’s radar, though it’s not clear if Fulham would be willing to sell him.
Manchester United will start their Premier League season with an away game against newly promoted Hull on August 22.
