Anthony Joshua’s old coach shares big worries about where the Tyson Fury fight might happen

Anthony Joshua’s former coach has shared some concerns about where the big fight with Tyson Fury might happen. After years of rivalry, Joshua and Fury are finally expected to face each other in the ring later this year to settle who’s the best British heavyweight of this generation.

The fight isn’t officially announced yet, but most people think it will take place in the last part of the year, after each fighter picked up a win in warm-up matches this summer. A lot of talk has been about where the fight will be held. Even though both fighters are huge names in British boxing, it seems less likely the fight will happen in England.

Right now, the US looks like the most likely place for Fury vs Joshua. Saudi boxing boss Turki Alalshikh and Netflix want the fight at a time that suits American viewers. Some US venues mentioned include Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium and the famous Madison Square Garden in New York, which is the favorite.

But Robert Garcia, who coached Joshua for his 2022 rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, thinks fans should be worried if the fight happens at Madison Square Garden. He said, “Yes, I would be worried because I know how Joshua thinks. Unless a lot has changed recently, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I don’t like the fight being in New York. It should happen in the UK. We’re all against it being in the US.”

Until the fight is officially confirmed, it’s hard to say exactly when it will happen. Even though both fighters won their recent matches, they’ll likely take some time off to rest before training hard again. Because of this, most expect the fight to take place towards the end of 2026, if neither gets injured.

Reports say the organizers want to set a date in November, but instead of the usual Saturday night for big fights, it might be on a Friday. They want to avoid clashing with US college football games, making November 20 the most likely date.
