Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has reportedly made a final decision about his future, with both Arsenal and Spurs showing interest in the Spanish player.
Torres, who scored the winning goal for Spain against Argentina in the World Cup final, has been linked with leaving Barcelona throughout the transfer window.
The 26-year-old, who came through Valencia’s academy, has done well at Barca since moving from Manchester City in 2022, winning three La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey. But he now wants a new challenge before the 2026/27 season.
Thanks to his World Cup success, there’s a lot of attention on Torres, and both North London clubs are keen to boost their attacks before the September 1 deadline. Torres is seen as a quality player who could be a good fit at a fair price. He’s also open to returning to England if the right chance comes up.
However, on Sunday (August 9), TEAMtalk reported that Torres has agreed personal terms with European champions Paris Saint-Germain. The report says Barcelona and PSG have agreed on a £43 million fee for Torres, who has one year left on his contract.
“Once PSG made their approach,” says reporter Graeme Bailey, “Torres talked with head coach Luis Enrique, and that chat was key. Torres decided he wanted to join PSG, attracted by the chance to work with Enrique again and play at the top level in France, which convinced him more than a move back to England.”
Earlier in August, Torres was asked if he expected to stay at Barcelona. He said, “I have a contract with Barcelona, but in football, you never know. We’re waiting to make the right decision. For now, I have to be in training for Barcelona on August 12. Let’s see what happens.”
When asked what Barcelona needed to do to keep him, he replied, “Show me they want me, come and talk.” About interest from other clubs, he said, “It’s always good when teams want you. You never know because football can change in a minute, so I have to be ready for anything.”
Torres has scored 65 goals and provided 23 assists in 207 games for Barcelona. If he moves to PSG, he’ll join a strong attack with players like Ousmane Dembele, Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, Desire Doue, and Maghnes Akliouche.
