Bronny James, son of NBA star LeBron James, is close to hearing news from the Los Angeles Lakers about his future now that his dad has left the team for Philadelphia.
Many NBA fans often talk about Bronny, with some saying that the only reason he got a contract with the Lakers was because of his dad’s influence. LeBron spent eight years with the Lakers, winning the 2020 NBA Championship before moving this summer to the Philadelphia 76ers for the final chapter of his career.
Since LeBron left, Bronny’s future with the Lakers has been uncertain, even though he got some playing time last season during a tough injury period against the Houston Rockets. Those moments showed some exciting teamwork between father and son, but Bronny is still not a starter or a top bench player.
It was expected that Bronny might join LeBron in Philadelphia, as LeBron wants to support his son on the court while he can. However, the Lakers seem firm on keeping Bronny for now. According to Lake Show Life, there’s no sign the Lakers plan to cut him before the 2026-27 season.

Instead, the Lakers sent Bronny to the G-League to help him grow, which is common for young players adjusting to the NBA’s pace. Last season, Bronny played in 42 regular games, averaging nearly nine minutes per game—up from 27 games and about seven minutes the year before. He even saw some playoff action during that injury crisis.
