Novak Djokovic could make tennis history at the US Open by earning a record-breaking prize money amount.
Novak Djokovic is set to add even more to his amazing tennis legacy next month by hitting a big prize money milestone. Djokovic is the most successful men’s player ever, holding a record 24 Grand Slam titles, ahead of legends Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
His last Grand Slam win was at the US Open in 2023. Although players like Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have been winning recently, the 39-year-old Djokovic is eager to reach 25 Grand Slams. That would surpass Margaret Court, who also has 24 singles titles.
Another big win at the US Open would also break a prize money record. Djokovic has earned an incredible $194.7 million so far, more than Nadal’s $135 million and Federer’s $130.6 million.
He’s very close to becoming the first player to earn over $200 million, and that could happen soon. At the Cincinnati Masters, starting Thursday, Djokovic stands to win $1.15 million if he takes the title. With Alcaraz and Sinner both out due to injuries, his chances look even better.
This Masters tournament comes just before the US Open, which runs from August 23 to September 13. Last year’s US Open winner took home $5 million after a big prize increase.
