Mykhailo Mudryk has made his transfer decision as Chelsea think about a big move.
Mykhailo Mudryk has reached out to Chelsea about his future now that he’s back with the team. After nearly two years away, the Chelsea forward finally made his return to the pitch this summer following a long doping ban.
Mudryk, 25, last played for Chelsea in November 2024 before testing positive in a urine sample, which led to a four-year suspension. But recently, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) cleared him to compete again immediately after a successful appeal.
Since then, Mudryk has come on as a substitute three times during Chelsea’s pre-season games against Juventus, AC Milan, and Malaysian club Johor Darul Ta’zim. With his return confirmed, fans have been curious about what this means for his future at Chelsea.
Right now, it seems unlikely Mudryk will stay at Chelsea for the full season. Instead, reports say he might go out on loan to get regular playing time and prove his worth after being away. Several European teams, including Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg and some Italian clubs, are interested in signing him.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Mudryk prefers to stay in the Premier League if he’s loaned out. He’s officially asked to remain in England. New Chelsea boss Xabi Alonso talked about Mudryk during pre-season, saying, “Everything happened quickly, so the main thing is to support him, help him feel part of the team, and see how he’s doing. He’s a special player, and we need to be careful with his situation.”
If Mudryk does go on loan in the Premier League, fans will be excited to watch him play again at the top level. The newly promoted Coventry City seems like a favorite to offer him that chance, thanks to his connection with their manager Frank Lampard. Lampard worked with Mudryk during his second spell as Chelsea manager in 2023 and reportedly wants to team up with him again.
Lampard even tried signing Mudryk before, during his time at Everton, and spoke highly of the player’s speed, skill, and finishing ability. He told Sky Sports, “He’s a strong finisher and loves to shoot after training. We haven’t seen all of what he can do yet, but I know he’s growing into the Premier League.”
If Mudryk joins Coventry, he’ll be joining new signings like Frank Onyeka, Aurele Amenda, Loum Tchaouna, Caleb Yirenkyi, and Carl Rushworth, who have all been brought in during a busy summer for the Sky Blues. Fans will be eager to see how Mudryk performs if given another chance in England’s top flight.
