Tijjani Reijnders is in advanced talks for an unexpected move, with a Premier League club showing interest.
Tijjani Reijnders looks like he might leave Manchester City this summer, and the club interested in him is quite a surprise.
Before the 2025/26 season, Man City made a big signing by agreeing to pay €55 million (£46.3m) to AC Milan for the talented Netherlands midfielder Reijnders. He was seen as one of Europe’s top young players, and there was a lot of excitement when he joined the Etihad Stadium.
But things didn’t go as planned for the 28-year-old. Last season, he wasn’t a regular starter, playing in just 34 of the 50 games across all competitions. So, many were shocked when news came out that he could leave Man City this summer, even though he still has a contract until 2030.
At first, it seemed like he might stay in the Premier League, with Nottingham Forest reportedly interested. However, now it’s been revealed that Al Qadsiah, a team in the Saudi Pro League, is in advanced talks with Man City about signing him.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says the two clubs are close to agreeing on a deal for around €60 million (£51.3m). But the final decision will be up to Reijnders, who has to give the go-ahead for the transfer.
If he makes the move, he would join fellow Dutch player Crysencio Summerville, who also recently moved to Saudi Arabia, signing for Al Hilal after being linked with several Premier League teams.
If Man City do sell Reijnders just a year after signing him, it could free up money for their new manager Enzo Maresca to bring in another top midfielder. Man City are reportedly interested in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez and Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister as possible replacements.
Mac Allister, a World Cup winner, returned to Liverpool training recently after helping Argentina reach the final. Although he had a tough season last year, new Liverpool boss Iraola seems to want to keep him as a key player. Any move for Mac Allister would likely depend on Liverpool signing someone to replace him first.
