Victor Osimhen is in talks for an exciting Premier League move just a week before the season kicks off.
Victor Osimhen might finally be heading to the Premier League, as a surprise club has started talks just a week before the new season kicks off. After an exciting summer with the World Cup, the 2025/26 Premier League season is only days away. The reigning champions Arsenal will open their campaign against newly-promoted Coventry.
As always, the summer transfer window has been full of action, with lots of big players moving between clubs. Twice this summer, the British transfer record was broken: first when Elliot Anderson moved from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City for £116 million, and then when Morgan Rogers joined Chelsea from Aston Villa for £117 million.
Now, there could be an even bigger deal coming up. Arsenal has begun talks with Galatasaray about bringing Osimhen to the Premier League. According to The Telegraph, Osimhen came up during discussions about Galatasaray’s interest in Arsenal players Gabriel Martinelli and Ethan Nwaneri.
So far this summer, Galatasaray have offered £38.4 million for Martinelli, who might not get much playtime next season after Arsenal signed Christos Tzolis. They’re also interested in Nwaneri. While talking about these moves, Osimhen’s potential transfer to Arsenal was also brought up. It’s not clear if Arsenal suggested Osimhen or if Galatasaray mentioned him.
Arsenal has been interested in Osimhen for a while but sees Julian Alvarez as their top choice for a striker this summer. However, since Atletico Madrid wants over £100 million for Alvarez, signing Osimhen could be a more affordable option for Arsenal, especially if it’s part of a deal involving Martinelli and Nwaneri.
Last season, the 27-year-old Osimhen scored 22 goals and made eight assists in 33 games for Galatasaray.
Osimhen has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea interested last season. It’s no surprise he’s keen to join Arsenal if the two clubs agree on a deal.
That said, Osimhen might have to take a big pay cut. His current contract reportedly pays him £308,000 a week. If he moved to Arsenal for that amount, he would become their highest-paid player, earning more than Bukayo Saka’s £300,000 a week and £108,000 more than last summer’s signing Viktor Gyokeres.
In fact, a £308,000 weekly wage would make Osimhen the third highest-paid player in the Premier League, behind only Virgil van Dijk (£350,000) and Erling Haaland (£525,000).
