Man Utd cancel transfer as INEOS chooses a new plan just a week before the season begins
Manchester United have changed their transfer plans and are no longer chasing a well-known Premier League star. After finishing third last season with Michael Carrick in charge, many fans expected big signings this summer. But with Casemiro leaving and Manuel Ugarte injured, the club had to rethink their midfield.
They brought in Andrey Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, but apart from signing Karl Darlow on a free transfer, United haven’t made many big moves. This has made some fans frustrated, especially since promoted teams like Coventry City and Ipswich Town have spent more money.
Carrick recently told Sky Sports News that he still wants to sign more players before the window closes. He said, “We’ve added some really good players and improved the squad in different ways. But we always want more and need more. We’re working hard to keep improving.”
According to the Manchester Evening News, United now think signing a third midfielder isn’t their top priority. Instead, they want to focus on bringing in a new left-back. Luke Shaw played every Premier League game last season, but because of his past injuries, he might struggle with a tougher match schedule. Patrick Dorgu, who was signed from Lecce in 2025 to play left wingback, is now seen more as a left-wing option.
Their main target is Newcastle’s Lewis Hall, but it could be hard to sign him since Newcastle has already lost key players recently. One player they’re not pursuing is Fulham’s Antonee Robinson. Even though he impressed at the World Cup, his age (29) made United decide to look for younger options like Hall or Jorge Salinas from Racing Santander.
Myles Lewis-Skelly was offered to United recently, but the young player wants to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place in the team.
