Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has finally opened up about whether he plans to come back to the Premier League. He’s previously been linked with both Manchester United and his old club, Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane moved from Spurs to Bayern in 2023. Although he didn’t win the Bundesliga in his first season, he has since helped Bayern win back-to-back German league titles and the 2025/26 DFB Pokal with his goals.

Now 33, Kane, who captained England at the 2026 World Cup, is in the last year of his contract with Bayern. This summer, both Barcelona and Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal showed interest in signing him.

On Tuesday (August 18), Kane said he’s feeling “calm” about his future as contract talks are set to begin soon. Talking to Kicker, he explained, “We agreed to talk after the World Cup and my holiday. I’m not sure exactly when, maybe this week or next week. We’ll start those talks. Like I said before, we’re calm; I think they are too.”

After getting extended time off following the World Cup, Kane has now rejoined his Bayern teammates and recently played in a 4-2 friendly win against Heidenheim.

While it seems Kane is happy at Bayern, people still often wonder about a Premier League return. Spurs and Manchester United have both been linked with him, as Kane is just 47 goals away from Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals. But based on what Kane said recently, he doesn’t plan to come back to England anytime soon.

At an award ceremony on Wednesday where he received his second European Golden Shoe, Kane told Henry Winter, “When I first left Spurs in 2023, I definitely thought I’d come back. That feeling isn’t as strong now. I’m very happy here in Munich. It’s shown me a different side of football outside England and made me appreciate European football even more. With our team, the manager Vincent Kompany, and my family settled here, it’s about being in the best place possible. I never say never, but right now I’m focused on Bayern, and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

Kane is also a contender for the Ballon d’Or, which will be awarded in October. He called it “as big as it gets” in terms of individual awards.

“I know I had a great last season, but my mind is on this new season,” he said earlier this week. “The Ballon d’Or isn’t up to me. I’ve done my best, now it’s down to votes and the media — things I can’t control — so we’ll see. Of course, it would be amazing to win, but it’s still a few months away, so it’s not my main focus right now.”

Bayern will start their Bundesliga season against Stuttgart on August 28.
