LIV Golf player shares thoughts on Jon Rahm’s future after different reports from the PGA Tour

Martin Kaymer recently shared his thoughts about the future of LIV Golf star Jon Rahm, as there have been mixed reports about whether Rahm will return to the PGA Tour. Rahm’s future has been up in the air since it was announced that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) would stop funding LIV Golf after 2026.

Earlier this month, LIV CEO Scott O’Neil said a new investor has been found and a deal has been signed. ESPN later reported that the lead investor is Ted Goldthorpe, who works at private equity firm BC Partners. O’Neil also talked about Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, saying they are some of the biggest names in golf and sports overall. He said he would love for them to stay with LIV, as they bring a lot of attention and value to the game.

Recently, Tee Times reported that Rahm agreed to go back to the PGA Tour starting in 2027, with conditions like donating his existing £25 million fines to charity. A similar deal allowed Brooks Koepka to return in early 2026. However, Golfweek’s Eamon Lynch says there haven’t been any talks yet between Rahm and the PGA while Rahm is still under contract with LIV.

Goldthorpe reportedly spoke to the players in a private meeting on Tuesday. When Kaymer was asked about Rahm’s future in an interview, he stayed cautious. He said, “You never know if it’s true or not. I only know my own situation. To get the real story, you’d have to ask him. I don’t know if he’s been asked. I try to stay out of it.”

Kaymer added that their meeting with the new investor felt positive and full of energy, but it’s still early days. He said, “Right now, we know what the investor has shared with us. The focus should be on finishing the season strong. In the next few weeks, we’ll probably have more plans for 2027. It’s hard to find answers when the season isn’t over yet.”
