Chelsea fans are sure a last-minute transfer is going through after noticing some activity on social media.
Chelsea fans are feeling hopeful that the club might make another signing before the transfer window closes, after noticing some interesting activity on a player’s social media.
The Blues started their Premier League season with an exciting 3-2 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Monday night.
While the defense had some shaky moments and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez could have done better on both goals, the attack looked promising. Cole Palmer, Joao Pedro, and new signing Morgan Rogers worked really well together.
Pedro scored the first goal right at the start, thanks to a great assist from Palmer. Then, Rogers made it 2-1 on his debut, scoring his first goal for Chelsea just before halftime. After that, Pedro and Palmer teamed up again to make it 3-1, with Palmer scoring his first goal of the season.
Fulham’s Gonzalo Garcia pulled one back to make it 3-2, but Chelsea held on for the win. They almost added a fourth in injury time when Pedro Neto’s shot hit the side netting.
After the game, Rogers shared a photo on Instagram celebrating his debut goal, with the caption: “We backkkk.” His Chelsea teammates Palmer, Pedro, Reece James, and Jordan Henderson all left comments, as did new Everton player Brennan Johnson.
But the most talked-about comment was from Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, who left an exhaling face emoji.
Scott, 23, has been linked with Chelsea all summer. Reports say Bournemouth rejected three bids from Chelsea for him, worth around £62 to £68 million.
Manchester United are also interested, but Bournemouth don’t want to lose key players now, especially with their first Europa League season coming up. Plus, they don’t have much time to find replacements before the transfer window closes on September 1.
Scott played the full match in Bournemouth’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City on Sunday. He’s good friends with Rogers from their time playing together in England’s youth teams. Scott is a year younger than Rogers, who used to play for Aston Villa.
Because of their friendship, Chelsea fans are still hoping the club can pull off a late deal for Scott.
“Future Chelsea player,” one fan wrote under Scott’s comment on Rogers’ post.
“Stay patient son, we are coming,” said another.
“Come join, your boys are waiting,” added a third.
“Soon a Chelsea player after Enzo is gone,” said a fourth.
