Jose Mourinho has put a stop to Liverpool, Manchester United, and other clubs interested in signing Endrick from Real Madrid this summer.
The 20-year-old Brazilian, who was picked for Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad, was linked to a possible move away from Real Madrid. Earlier in August, the Spanish news outlet AS said Real was open to letting Endrick leave, with Manchester United and Aston Villa both interested. It was said that Endrick wanted to join a team where he could play as a central striker and preferred to be in the Champions League.
Last week, The Times reported that Liverpool might go after the young player, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Lyon, if they couldn’t sign Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh.
But now, Real Madrid’s new manager Mourinho has made it clear that Endrick won’t be leaving this summer. He praised Endrick’s training performances and said he enjoys working with such a talented young player.
Endrick missed Real’s first game of the 2026/27 La Liga season, a 2-1 win at Espanyol, because of a minor muscle tendon injury, but Mourinho said it shouldn’t keep him out for long.
Mourinho said, “I didn’t want to loan him out or sell him because I enjoy working with this young player who has great talent. I’m not sure if he’ll make Brazil’s first team, but since Carlo Ancelotti is the coach and a good friend, he’ll reach out to me. The injury is just tendonitis, more a precaution than a major issue.”
He added that many clubs have asked about Endrick, either for a loan or a permanent move, but he’s happy to keep him for now.
After missing out on Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who chose to join Barcelona, reports said Real Madrid wouldn’t look for another player to replace him. Although SPORT said Mourinho was surprised Rodri turned Real down, the manager told reporters that his squad was basically set for now.
Mourinho said, “For me, the squad is complete. The transfer window is still open, so you never know if a player might want to leave. But right now, no. I’m very happy with the players I have and haven’t asked for anyone else.”
