David Beckham is said to be interested in helping buy a football club.
David Beckham is slowly building a group of football clubs, and he might be about to add another one to his collection. The former Manchester United star already owns two clubs: Inter Miami in the MLS and Salford City in England’s League 2.
Beckham got into owning football clubs back in 2014 when he used his option to buy an MLS expansion team, part of the deal when he joined LA Galaxy in 2007. That’s how Inter Miami came to be, debuting in the MLS on March 1, 2020.
In January 2019, Beckham and some of his old teammates from the Class of ’92 became part-owners of Salford City, taking a 10% stake. Then, in May 2025, Beckham and Gary Neville led a group that took over the club outright.
Now, it looks like Beckham might be trying to buy a famous French team. Reports from Ouest-France say Beckham is linked to a bid for FC Nantes, a club currently struggling at the bottom of Ligue 2 after being relegated from Ligue 1.
Nantes is a historic French club, having won Ligue 1 eight times. Beckham and his partners seem interested because they believe they can help bring the club back to its former glory.
The club has already received at least three bids, two connected to British investors. The reports mention Beckham’s name often in talks about buying the team.
The current owner, Polish businessman Waldemar Kita, who has owned Nantes since 2007, is thought to be open to selling. During his time, the club had a tough ride, dropping down to Ligue 2 twice and going through 24 head coaches in 19 years. Kita and his son, the club’s CEO Franck, are not very popular with the fans.
