“I’ve always been clear…” – Richarlison shares a public message about the transfer rumors between Spurs and Everton
Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison has shared a detailed message amid rumors about a possible last-minute move back to Everton.
On Sunday, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that a deal was almost done for the Brazilian striker to return to Everton, the club he left four years ago to join Spurs. It was later revealed that the deal would be worth £35 million, with Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye moving to Tottenham in a separate £60 million deal.
Shortly after, Richarlison posted a mysterious photo on Instagram showing a mural in Portuguese that said, “I am the villain of many poorly told stories.”
On Monday afternoon, Fabrizio Romano said Richarlison hadn’t agreed to personal terms with Everton yet, which was delaying Ndiaye’s transfer to Tottenham. Now, it seems Ndiaye will join Manchester City instead.
Richarlison then shared two posts in Portuguese on social media. In the first, he said, “After everything I’ve been through the last few years, I’ve decided that NO ONE will decide my future for me again. I went through a lot of tough times, mostly because of decisions others made. Pressure, threats, and backlash don’t scare me—I’ve faced worse!
“I’ve always said that any move I make has to be good for the club too. If it isn’t, I won’t accept it—just like when things were difficult here, and I stayed and gave my all. So I hope people show the same respect for my situation that I’ve shown for Spurs and everyone I’ve worked with.
“Just don’t try to make decisions for me.”
In the second message, he added, “If Spurs and Everton agree, I’ll happily return to the club close to my heart. I wanted to go back to where I was so happy, but the talks were driven by other people, and that’s not how it will be anymore.
“Despite the chaos, I’m still under contract with Spurs and ready to give my best for the club.”
