Anthony Martial is surprising everyone by making a comeback to the Premier League after being a free agent for three months.
Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial might be making a surprising return to the Premier League after the summer transfer window closed, reports say.
Martial, 30, is currently a free agent after leaving Mexican club Monterrey in June. He had signed a two-year deal in 2025 but left the club by mutual agreement. During his time in Mexico, he scored one goal in 20 games.
Since he’s now a free agent, Martial can join a new club even outside the transfer window, as long as there’s space in their squad. It’s been reported that he could be heading back to England, two years after leaving Manchester United.
According to TEAMtalk, Martial has been offered to Everton. The club had a rough end to the transfer window after a deal for Monaco striker Folarin Balogun fell through at the last minute. With Beto sold to Fiorentina, Everton now only have Thierno Barry as their main striker until January.
Martial is said to be open to returning to the Premier League, and his agents have reached out to seven clubs, including Everton, Leeds, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Newcastle, Sunderland, and Tottenham. It’s not clear if any club has shown real interest yet.
Martial last played competitive football in March during Monterrey’s loss to Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals. If he does return to the Premier League, he might face Manchester United for the first time since he left.
After leaving United, Martial spent some time at AEK Athens, scoring nine goals in 24 games, before moving to Monterrey. He’ll turn 31 in December and is eager to find a new club now that the summer transfer window is over.
