Just a day after the summer transfer window closed, Estevão is already thinking about his future at Chelsea.
The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting young attackers in the Premier League, but he’s worried about not getting enough game time under head coach Xabi Alonso.
Estevão missed the end of last season and the 2026 World Cup because of a hamstring injury. Now that he’s fully fit, he’s finding it hard to break into Chelsea’s starting lineup. If things don’t change, he might look to leave Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.
Since Alonso took over this summer, Estevão is said to be ‘concerned’ about his role in the squad. The Brazilian got just seven minutes at the end of Chelsea’s opening game against Fulham and was on the bench but didn’t play against Brighton. He started in a rotated team against Luton Town in the Carabao Cup, but more chances might be hard to come by soon.
Without European games this season, Chelsea have fewer matches, so there’s less need to rotate players, especially in attacking spots. This worries Estevão, who fears he’ll be left out of the starting eleven. If his playing time doesn’t improve, he might try to go out on loan in January to get more minutes.
Estevão prefers playing as a central attacker but faces tough competition from Cole Palmer and new signing Morgan Rogers. He could try to take Pedro Neto’s spot on the right wing, but he’s hesitant because Alonso expects a lot from wingers.
The young player thinks he would need to get stronger to play on the wing in the Premier League, but he worries gaining muscle might slow him down and affect his natural style.
