Richarlison has been left out of Tottenham’s Premier League squad after being told he’s not in Roberto De Zerbi’s plans – and it looks like he’s about to move to a new club.
Before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, it seemed like Richarlison might return to his old club, Everton, which was a bit of a surprise.
On Sunday, The Athletic reported that an agreement was in place for the Brazil star to go back to Merseyside, pending personal terms and a medical check.
Later, it came out that Tottenham and Everton had agreed on a £35 million deal, but the transfer fell apart after a few dramatic hours, including Richarlison posting a mysterious message.
At 29, Richarlison isn’t part of Roberto De Zerbi’s plans this season, which was confirmed on Thursday when he was left out of the Premier League squad. So, what now?
Richarlison hasn’t moved yet, but according to Fabrizio Romano, he’s agreed to join Turkish team Trabzonspor, who are ready to offer him triple his current wage.
Right now, Richarlison earns £90,000 a week at Tottenham, before bonuses, according to Capology. You can imagine the boost Trabzonspor is offering!
Tottenham reportedly turned down two bids from Trabzonspor worth £15 million and £20 million, but another offer is expected soon. The Turkish transfer window closes on Friday (4 September).
Trabzonspor, aiming to compete with teams like Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Besiktas, have signed some big names lately, including Mohamed Salah.
Salah left Liverpool after his contract ended and signed a two-year deal last month with Trabzonspor worth £14.5 million per year – that’s about £280,000 a week.
His former Liverpool teammate, Fabinho, has also joined, along with Franculino and Aral Simsir, both signed from Danish club FC Midtjylland for £14.6 million and £12.8 million respectively.
Earlier this week, Trabzonspor accepted the resignation of head coach Fatih Tekke, just days after he first asked to leave and was refused.
Tekke stepped down after the team was knocked out of the Europa League by Hungarian club Ferencvaros.
On Wednesday, Trabzonspor said they had agreed to part ways “by mutual understanding” with Tekke, who helped the club finish third last season.
The club said, “During his 18 months with us, Fatih Tekke brought great value to Trabzonspor. He helped develop new players, achieved important sporting and financial success, and brought the Turkish Cup to our club, making history again.
“We agreed it was time to make a fresh plan focused on the club’s best interests. We thank Coach Tekke for his hard work, dedication, successes, and the value he added to Trabzonspor.”
