LIV Golf player was disqualified from the DP World Tour Qualifying for missing their tee time.
LIV Golf player Peter Uihlein was disqualified from the first stage of the DP World Tour Q-School because he missed his tee time. The 37-year-old was playing at Huddersfield Golf Club this week, trying to get back onto the traditional golf tour since the future of LIV Golf is still uncertain.
Uihlein started the week with a score of seven over par and was in 66th place. He needed to finish in the top 19 to move on to the next stage. But things got worse when he was disqualified after missing his tee time for the third round.
He was one of three LIV Golf players at Huddersfield, along with Spain’s Luis Masaveu and Jose Luis Ballester. Uihlein began with a 74 (four over par), then improved to 73 the second day, leaving him seven over par — which wasn’t enough to continue.
It’s not surprising he was disqualified after missing his tee time on Friday. The former PGA Tour player didn’t show up as scheduled in West Yorkshire.
Uihlein and the other LIV players are trying Q-School amid ongoing doubts about LIV Golf’s future. LIV Golf recently lost major funding from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), which puts its future in question.
The LIV Golf team is now rushing to find new financial support for the 2027 season and beyond, with the year’s end coming soon. Last month, LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil said they found a potential investor and signed a term sheet. New York-based BC Partners might back the league, and O’Neil hopes to close the deal this month.
However, the Financial Times reported that LIV Golf is struggling and might file for bankruptcy as soon as next week. A LIV spokesperson said they are scaling back their work after the PIF funding ends and are preparing for a “LIV 2.0” phase. They also mentioned that many employees will finish their work in early September.
The Financial Times also said that LIV is offering settlements to players who are owed millions in guaranteed payments.
