Jadon Sancho might get another chance to shine in the Premier League, even after a tough few years that saw him go from a Manchester United star to a free agent struggling to find a club.
When Sancho joined Manchester United in 2021 for £73 million, everyone had high hopes for him. But five years later, he’s now without a team and considered one of the biggest signings that didn’t work out. Still, two Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in giving him another shot.
Since he’s a free agent, Sancho can join any club, even though the transfer window closed recently. He’s been linked with teams all over the world, including a possible move to Brazilian club Palmeiras. There was even talk about a move to the Arabian Falcons in Dubai.
However, new reports say two Premier League teams have recently reached out to Sancho. We don’t know which clubs they are, but it shows he might be coming back to English football.
Sancho has already played for three Premier League clubs: Manchester United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa. It’s unlikely he’ll return to United, and a move back to Chelsea or Villa seems doubtful too. Aston Villa had a chance to sign him permanently after his loan last season but passed on it. Chelsea probably aren’t keen either after a quiet loan spell with only 14 goal contributions in 41 games.
If he doesn’t stay in England, his old club Borussia Dortmund in Germany might want him back.
When Sancho came to United, he had already shown great talent with 114 goal contributions in 137 games for Dortmund and 22 caps for England. But at United, he only managed 18 contributions in 83 matches and spent a lot of time out on loan.
It’s hard to say exactly what went wrong, but four managers (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, Ralf Rangnick, and Erik ten Hag) all struggled to fit him into the team. Things really turned around when ten Hag left him out of the squad for a game against Arsenal in September 2023. The manager said Sancho’s training wasn’t good enough, but Sancho disagreed and said he was being unfairly blamed, which led to a public fallout.
After that, Sancho never played for United again, and this has affected how fans and other clubs see him.
