Micah Richards wrote a fun poem for Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe during a live CBS Sports show, and their chat quickly became a hit on social media.
On Tuesday night, Mbappe scored his 27th goal for the season, helping Real Madrid win 2-1 against Inter Milan and making him the joint fifth-highest scorer in Champions League history. This was his fifth goal in the Champions League after scoring four in LaLiga, showing off his amazing skills under coach Jose Mourinho.
Right after the game, Mbappe joined the CBS Sports team for an interview with Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards. Richards jokingly said Mbappe was his “favourite” player on the panel, having admired him for years. Then, Richards surprised everyone by reading a poem he’d written just for Mbappe.

The kind words clearly made Mbappe smile from ear to ear, while the rest of the studio shared a good laugh at Richards’ excitement.
After a tough loss to Real Betis on the weekend, Real Madrid bounced back with a strong Champions League performance against Inter. Mourinho must have been a bit upset about losing his perfect LaLiga record early on, especially with Barcelona looking strong again under Hansi Flick.
But it looks like Mourinho has already won over most of the team, especially Mbappe, who praised the new coach after the game.
“José Mourinho makes you feel alive,” Mbappe said. “He makes you feel special. He puts a lot of pressure and energy into training. He talks a lot with us, and we know what he wants and expects. When a coach gives you that confidence and hunger, you want to give your best and never disappoint him.”
Mourinho returned the praise by calling Mbappe one of the best players he’s ever coached.
“I rank him right up there among the players I’ve coached,” Mourinho said. “I don’t like comparing players, but I’ve worked with greats like Ronaldo Nazario. Kylian is right up there — he’s incredible.”
Since joining Real Madrid two years ago, Mbappe has proven he’s one of the best in the world, scoring 91 goals in 108 games. Now, as he hits his prime, Mourinho hopes Mbappe will help lead the team to win both LaLiga and the Champions League this season.
