A former Liverpool young player, once praised as ‘magnificent’ by Steven Gerrard, is now 28 and searching for his next club on LinkedIn.
Ovie Ejaria, who used to play midfield for Liverpool and Arsenal, has turned to LinkedIn as he looks for a new football club to join.
The 28-year-old spent last season with Real Oviedo in La Liga but became a free agent when his contract ended. Now, Ejaria is trying something different by posting on social media to get noticed. He says he mainly plays as a central midfielder but is happy to take on the left wing if the chance comes up.
Ejaria grew up through the Arsenal academy and is still living in London after his one season in Spain. He appeared in eight La Liga games last season but had some fitness issues after an injury in December kept him out for two months.
He’s also had time playing for Sunderland, Rangers, and Reading, showing he’s a skilled player who many clubs might be interested in. Even though the summer transfer window is closed, Ejaria can still sign with a team if they have room on their squad.
On LinkedIn, he wrote: “I’m currently a free agent and looking for the right opportunity. I’m keeping the details brief for now, but if there’s an opportunity or you know of a club looking for a midfielder (6, 8 & 10) or someone who can play as a left winger, please feel free to DM me. All enquiries welcome.”
Ejaria joined Liverpool’s youth setup after spending nine years with Arsenal, playing two Premier League matches and three FA Cup games for Liverpool. He was loaned out three times while at Liverpool, including a spell with Rangers in Scotland, where he was managed by club legend Steven Gerrard.
During his time at Rangers, Ejaria made 28 appearances and scored twice before his loan ended early. Even so, Gerrard praised him after a strong performance in a Europa League match, calling it his best 90 minutes so far.
After Liverpool released him in 2020, Ejaria signed with Reading in the Championship and played there for three years. He left Reading in December 2023 and stayed a free agent until joining Oviedo in July 2025.
