Barcelona star now worth more than Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi put together after big club move
Barcelona’s young star Hamza Abdelkarim is now officially worth more than both Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi combined after signing a big new contract.
At just 18, Abdelkarim has had an amazing 2026. He became the youngest Egyptian to play at a World Cup and made his first senior appearance for Barcelona. Many see him as the future of Egypt’s national team, following in Mohamed Salah’s footsteps. Now, he’s set to stay with Barcelona for a long time.
According to Spanish news outlet SPORT, Abdelkarim got a big pay raise and a new release clause in his contract. He finalized the deal quickly with just two meetings, as Barcelona wanted to make sure other top clubs didn’t try to sign him after inquiries over the summer.
His new release clause is a huge €150 million, which means he’s nearly twice as valuable as Barcelona’s recent signing Anthony Gordon. Gordon is thought to be worth about €90 million, up €10 million from what Barca paid for him after a strong start in Spain. Karim Adeyemi, who came on as a substitute during Barca’s 5-1 Champions League win over Feyenoord, is valued at around €40 million.
Before, Abdelkarim’s release clause was €15 million, so this is a 900% increase! His manager, Hansi Flick, showed trust by including him on the bench during the Feyenoord game. Although he didn’t play, Abdelkarim’s Champions League debut is likely coming soon.
He featured in four of Egypt’s five World Cup games, all as a substitute. He also had a big role in Barca’s pre-season, scoring four goals. On August 31, he made his senior debut by coming on in the 87th minute in a 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano, becoming the first Egyptian to play competitively for Barcelona.
Barcelona paid just €1.5 million to sign him from Egyptian club Al Ahly this summer. He spent part of last season on loan with Barca’s U19 team before being promoted to the first team by Flick after his permanent transfer.
After Egypt’s World Cup loss to Argentina, Abdelkarim chose to skip a holiday and rejoin Barcelona right away, following advice from Mohamed Salah. He told Egypt’s OnSport, “Mohamed Salah always talks to me, and I listen to everything he says. He’s an example to follow, and his success didn’t happen by chance.”
