Ben Shelton has finally passed his girlfriend Trinity Rodman’s record-breaking salary thanks to his great performances at the US Open.

Ben Shelton is set to face Alexander Zverev in the final of the 2026 US Open, with the young American hoping to win his very first Grand Slam title. At 23 years old, Shelton aims to stop the German star from adding a second Grand Slam to his name after Zverev won the French Open earlier this year.
Whoever wins the 2026 US Open, whether it’s Shelton or Zverev, will take home the biggest prize money ever offered in tennis history.
If Shelton wins, it will also mean he’s surpassed his girlfriend Trinity Rodman’s record-breaking salary. Trinity is the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman and plays for the US women’s national soccer team, having appeared 57 times for her country.
She’s known as one of the brightest young stars in soccer, currently playing for the Washington Spirit. Her talent earned her a big contract—she signed a three-year deal worth $2 million a year, making her the highest-paid player in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and the top-paid female player worldwide.
However, Shelton has now passed her in earnings just by reaching the US Open final, where the runner-up takes home $2.8 million. And if he wins, he will earn $5.5 million, almost as much as Trinity makes over her entire three-year contract with the Spirit.
Trinity has long been seen as one of the sport’s most exciting young players. At 18, she made history as the youngest player drafted in NWSL when the Spirit picked her first in the 2021 College Draft. It was a smart move—she won NWSL Rookie of the Year that season and also earned U.S. Soccer’s Young Female Player of the Year award.
Her club quickly rewarded her with a new deal, reported to be worth $1.1 million, making her the highest-paid NWSL player at the time. Over the next five years, she kept shining both for her club and country, and in January 2026, she made NWSL history again with a $2 million contract.
