Arsenal reach out to Real Madrid about a surprise transfer after Vini Jr news

Arsenal have reportedly reached out to Real Madrid about possibly signing Rodrygo next year.

The Gunners want to add another attacker to their team after missing out on Vinicius Junior this summer. They’re now interested in his Real Madrid teammate.

Rodrygo hasn’t played since a serious knee injury in March, but that hasn’t stopped Arsenal from looking into a deal once he’s fully fit again.

According to teamTALK, Mikel Arteta’s side are big fans of the Brazilian forward. He was actually near the top of their summer wishlist before he got injured.

Arsenal were in talks with Madrid over Vinicius throughout the summer and also showed some interest in another forward, Endrick. They still want to bring in a left-sided attacker next year since Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli left, and they signed Christos Tzolis.

Rodrygo is still seen as a strong option because of his skill and ability to play in different positions.

Despite all the talk about his future, Rodrygo is focused on getting back to full fitness after six months out. He’s confident he’ll be ready by December and hopes to beat the initial timeline for returning early next year.

If he proves he’s fit by the end of the year, Arsenal might try to sign him in the January transfer window, though a move next summer seems more likely.

Rodrygo’s contract runs until June 2028, so next year could be one of the last chances Real Madrid has to get a big transfer fee for him. Since joining from Santos in 2019, he’s scored 71 goals and made 57 assists.
