Max Verstappen faces off against 100 go-kart racers in a wild and crazy race!
Max Verstappen showed exactly why he’s one of the greatest after a wild race against 100 go-kart drivers.
On Wednesday evening, at a brand-new go-kart track right at Silverstone, the Formula One star took part in one of the craziest races ever — a 30-lap race with 100 other drivers.
Starting all the way at the back of the 101-driver grid, Verstappen had a front-row seat to an absolutely chaotic start that left him completely amazed.
To win, he had just 30 laps to overtake all 100 other racers, each hoping to be the one who beat the F1 legend.
Among the drivers were YouTubers Zac Alsop, Pieface, Bella James, StuntPegg, Love Island star Amber Gill, and several other content creators and personalities.
It didn’t take long for things to go haywire. Verstappen passed at least 20 karts before even making it through the first corner! But as he zoomed past, crashes and chaos erupted everywhere — dozens of karts crashed, spun around, or went off into the grass.
At one point, Verstappen had to avoid crashing by driving onto the grass himself to stay in the race. “I have no idea what’s going on, oh my God! It’s carnage,” he said on his radio.
Despite the mess, Verstappen stayed calm and was already up to 37th place before the first lap finished.
As the race went on, it was clear Verstappen was going to push right to the front. To keep things interesting, race officials added new twists: they poured water on a part of the track to make it trickier, and they allowed drivers to take “fast laps” — shortcuts to catch up to Verstappen.
At one point, Verstappen was so far ahead that drivers were even given extra fast laps to try to catch him, and Verstappen’s own extra fast lap was taken away.
No matter what, Verstappen was too good. He won the race comfortably after just over 35 minutes — well under the 40-minute limit.
After winning, Verstappen said with a smile, “Well, that was simply lovely, wasn’t it? I thought my first lap would be a disaster, but I got helped by people getting so excited and crashing.” He joked it might be the best win of his career.
Dutch F1 journalist Jacky Martens came in second, and Red Bull technician Lewis Osler took third after a tough fight for the podium.
Verstappen told the top three, “You’ve got to watch the first lap back — it was crazy!”
