Man Utd fans share harsh message with Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot after tough game against Brighton
After Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Brighton in the Carabao Cup, some fans seemed pretty unhappy with Marcus Rashford and Diogo Dalot.
United started strong with early goals from Shea Lacey and Mason Mount, but Brighton fought back hard at Old Trafford. Charalampos Kostoulas scored just before halftime, and Pascal Groß brought the score to 2-2 in the 65th minute. Then, Maxim De Cuyper put Brighton in the lead at the 69th minute. Despite bringing on captain Bruno Fernandes later in the game, United couldn’t turn things around. This was the first time in 50 years that United lost a match after leading by two goals.
Fans were critical of some senior players, especially Rashford and Dalot, who faced boos and even calls to leave as they left the stadium.
On social media, supporters shared their thoughts. One said, “We blew a two-goal lead then told Rashford and Dalot to leave, like the club hasn’t been making the same mistakes since 2018. We’ll pick them next week and be shocked when it happens again.” Another added, “Well done to the fans for speaking up! These two were a real disappointment.” A third wrote, “I get it, but it must be tough for the players to lose and then hear this.”
Brighton will face the winner of Manchester City vs Norwich City in the next round.
Despite the rough start to the season, Michael Carrick believes the team can bounce back. When asked about the game, he said, “We can’t accept that. I take full responsibility for the way we played late in the second half. We all need to improve. We’re out of this competition now and have to focus on winning matches. It’s not a good feeling right now. We want to win quickly, and the next game on Sunday is all we’re thinking about.”
Carrick added, “I don’t feel under pressure. That doesn’t bother me at all. What matters most is winning games and having a positive feeling in the team. I believe we can do it, but we need to start soon. Sunday against Fulham is the beginning.”
