Morgan Gibbs-White’s fiancée takes a strong swipe at Thomas Tuchel after another England miss
England fans are known for speaking their minds when it comes to picking the new Three Lions squad, and manager Thomas Tuchel has faced criticism for leaving out a player who hasn’t played for the national team in almost a year.
Morgan Gibbs-White, captain of Nottingham Forest, came on as a substitute against Wales at Wembley to earn his sixth and latest senior cap. Despite having a strong year, he’s been left out of the 2026 squad.
Many thought Gibbs-White, 26, would be picked for England’s Nations League games in September and October. His absence from the World Cup squad in May raised questions, and fans hoped the new cycle would bring him back.
England made it to the World Cup semi-finals in July, their first major tournament under Tuchel. They lost 2-1 to Argentina in Atlanta. For the latest squad, nine World Cup players are missing, many due to injury, and there are 10 new or returning players who weren’t in the last squad.
Still, Gibbs-White isn’t included, even though he’s been doing everything right to deserve a spot. His fiancee, internet personality Britney De Villiers, clearly disagrees with Tuchel’s choice.
She shared a stat on Instagram Stories showing what Gibbs-White brings to the team: “Morgan Gibbs-White is the only player to have created 5+ chances in a single Premier League game this season.” This was in Forest’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa last Saturday, where he created seven chances.
The Forest captain has been one of the best English midfielders this year. He keeps possession well, pushes forward with purpose, and often delivers great final passes. He’s his team’s main chance maker and has been the highest-scoring midfielder in Europe’s top five leagues in 2026.
Before coming to Forest, he played for Wolverhampton Wanderers and managed to score 15 Premier League goals last season, despite the team struggling and changing managers four times.
He’s already scored in the new 2026-27 season, but Tuchel hasn’t changed his mind. Instead, he picked attacking players like Eberechi Eze and Rio Ngumoha, and midfielders Cole Palmer, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and Alex Scott.
Many fans on social media think leaving him out of England’s upcoming games against Spain, Czech Republic twice, and Croatia is “criminal.”
It will be interesting to see if Tuchel surprises everyone with any unexpected call-ups soon.
