Marcus Rashford’s game for Man Utd against Fulham has some fans nervously saying the same thing again.
Marcus Rashford faced a lot of criticism after Manchester United’s disappointing game against Fulham. He started on the left side for the fourth straight Premier League match at Craven Cottage but struggled to make an impact. The own goal by Lisandro Martinez seemed to be the only thing separating the teams until Matheus Cunha scored a late deflected goal to earn Man United a point. So far, they’ve taken just five points from 15 possible in the league.
United’s performance felt off again as they found it hard to create clear chances. Before Cunha’s equalizer, Bruno Fernandes had the best chance, almost scoring with a shot that skimmed the post in the first half. Gary Neville was also critical, saying the players seemed to be “walking” after going 1-0 down, and called the 15 minutes after halftime the worst he’s seen since he began supporting the club.
Although United grabbed a late draw, many fans were quick to point out Rashford’s struggles on the left. He hasn’t scored in his last five league games. One fan said, “Rashford doesn’t seem confident. He holds onto the ball too much and doesn’t take risks. He needs to finish better.” Another added, “Carrick has really tried with Rashford,” while someone else mentioned that Rashford’s style isn’t fitting with the attack this season. Another fan commented, “Rashford wanted to leave, but ended up staying. Now he’s in the starting line-up and it’s not helping.”
Statistically, Rashford’s game showed why many were unhappy: just one successful dribble, no goals from six shots, and only one accurate cross. Besides his struggles in attack, he was one of the players who didn’t run enough without the ball. Neville also criticized the team for lacking energy and urgency, and the stats backed that up. Fulham covered more ground (117 km) than United (111 km), showing a key problem for the team. Rashford didn’t do much to help by tracking back either.
Manchester United will be back in action after a three-week international break, facing Tottenham Hotspur on October 10.
