Man Utd picks a new striker target after recent worrying news about Benjamin Sesko’s injury
Manchester United is considering a January move for Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy, especially with Benjamin Sesko’s recent injury causing some concern.
The Red Devils have had an eye on Guirassy since 2023, but back then he chose to join VfB Stuttgart permanently, turning down Manchester United’s interest. Sesko missed the recent game against Fulham due to injury, and it’s still unclear when he’ll be back.
After the 1-1 draw with Fulham, manager Michael Carrick said, “We’re not sure about Ben yet. He felt some pain after the Brighton game, so we’re checking him out. At the moment, he wasn’t ready for Fulham, and I don’t have any more updates. We’ll see how it goes.”
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United is now exploring the idea of signing Guirassy, who scored 22 goals for Dortmund in the 2025-26 season. This season, he’s already got four goals and two assists in just four Bundesliga games, which has caught United’s attention.
Three years ago, after Guirassy turned them down, United went with Rasmus Hojlund instead. Hojlund later moved to Napoli after a less-than-stellar time at Old Trafford.
Guirassy’s stats are impressive, with 64 goals in 102 games for Dortmund, placing him among the top forwards in the Bundesliga. He also attracted interest from Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal over the summer.
Right now, there’s no firm sign that United will make a move, but they are keeping a close eye, showing growing interest. The team wants to keep Sesko but is also looking at more experienced forwards, especially if Joshua Zirkzee decides to leave.
Dortmund is unlikely to sell easily. They finished second to Bayern Munich last season and are currently leading this season’s Bundesliga table with 12 points. Guirassy has played a key role in three of their four wins, scoring and assisting important goals.
Guirassy has two years left on his contract, so while a January transfer might be tough, Dortmund will have to decide soon about his future.
