Erling Haaland’s message to The United Strand is going viral after fans notice a new haircut theory.
Erling Haaland didn’t hold back when he told Manchester United fan Frank Ilett to get a haircut after Ilett responded to a fan theory in SPORTbible’s comments section.
Ilett, known for his social media channel The United Strand, made a promise on October 5, 2024, that he would only get a haircut when Manchester United won five matches in a row.
Earlier in February, the 30-year-old was just one win away from a trip to the barber after United beat Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham. But after a 1-1 draw against West Ham, he was left disappointed. Nearly 300,000 people watched his reaction live on the streaming platform Kick.
Unfortunately for Ilett and United fans, the season started rough at Old Trafford. The team is currently 12th in the Premier League with only one win out of five games. Meanwhile, Manchester City has been on fire, winning all five of their opening matches against Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Coventry, Manchester United, and Sunderland.
Some fans joked that Haaland waited to get his haircut until City had won five games in a row, as a cheeky jab at United. SPORTbible asked if this was just a coincidence or if Haaland planned it.
Ilett wasn’t convinced. He said, “I don’t think it had anything to do with that. He’d have cut it after the 5th win – not the 7th against Sunderland.”
Haaland quickly replied, but his answer didn’t clear things up: “Cut your hair man.”
Before United’s game against West Ham in February, Wayne Rooney shared his thoughts on Ilett’s haircut promise. On the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Rooney was asked if he would help with Ilett’s haircut.
“No,” Rooney said. “I’d send him far away. It’s annoying. We’re talking about Michael Carrick and Man United trying to win five games in a row, but it’s all about a guy’s haircut.”
Rooney added, “I bet he’d be devastated if Man United wins the fifth game because then he’d be irrelevant.”
