F1 fans all share the same complaint after watching the Azerbaijan GP grid walk.
Formula One fans aren’t too happy about one big change during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix grid walk.
This race is a bit different because it started a day earlier than usual, kicking off at midday on Saturday, September 26. As always, Sky Sports did their grid walk interviews before the race, but fans quickly noticed that Martin Brundle wasn’t the one doing it this time.
Brundle, a legend in F1, is only required to attend 16 out of the 24 races each season, so his absence in Baku was expected. Instead, the Sky team featured Natalie Pinkham, Jamie Chadwick, Jacques Villeneuve, David Croft, Karun Chandhok, and Ted Kravitz.
While this team can definitely cover the race, many fans said they missed Brundle’s usual sharp humor and quick wit during the interviews led by Chadhok and Chadwick.
On social media, one fan said, “Sky Sports really can’t afford to lose Martin Brundle. He’s just too good.” Another shared, “Watching this grid walk makes you appreciate Martin Brundle even more. Jamie and Karun seem a bit shy when talking to people!”
Some were harsher, with one fan writing, “Karun and Jamie don’t really know anyone outside F1, so the interviews fall flat. Seems like Sky is trying to save money by not using Brundle for every race.” Another added, “This grid walk was so dull. Martin Brundle wouldn’t hold back—he’d dive right in, making it way more interesting.”
