Dana White asks Eddie Hearn to ‘step back’ from the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight.
Dana White has quickly responded to Eddie Hearn’s comments about staying out of promoting the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight.
Hearn recently said he might sue White because the UFC boss claimed he could organize the Fury vs Joshua fight in the US, despite ongoing problems over the venue. The Matchroom Boxing promoter also said White shouldn’t be part of promoting the big December 11 event. White replied confidently, “Who’s going to stop me?”
Hearn says Anthony Joshua’s contract stops UFC and its parent company from being involved and says the fight must happen in the UK. He’s accused White of breaking this contract.
White fired back, joking that Hearn seems to do nothing but interviews all day: “Do you think Netflix cares what Eddie Hearn thinks? I’m definitely involved in promoting this fight right now. Who’s going to stop me? What have I lost?”
When asked about his role, White pointed to Netflix’s press release that featured quotes from him. “There’s a lot happening behind the scenes. Fans have wanted this fight for over 10 years. I’m sure everyone is excited,” he said.
Hearn was upset over Netflix naming White as co-promoter and said he might take legal action. He claimed White has no right to arrange the venue deals or promote the fight. White denied this and said the Netflix announcement proves he’s co-promoter.
Hearn then challenged White to explain how his involvement actually helps Joshua or his fighters. “We don’t want to change the original contract. Right now, no changes or announcements are planned. So, tell me why I should let you be involved. How does it benefit my guys?” he asked.
This fight between White and Hearn has been going on for a while—back in early 2026, White signed Conor Benn, who was with Hearn’s Matchroom. In return, Hearn got UFC fighter Tom Aspinall to join his team, but White seems unbothered by that.
