Tom Brady’s 13-year marriage came to an end after a tough three-word comment from Gisele Bundchen.
A new book has revealed the three simple words that helped end Tom Brady’s 13-year marriage to his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen.
Brady and Bündchen, who have two kids together, announced their split in October 2022. Their divorce was even talked about on Brady’s Netflix comedy roast. On Instagram, Bündchen shared, “I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.”
Since then, Bündchen has remarried jiu-jitsu teacher Joaquim Valente. They tied the knot in December 2025, after having a baby boy in February.
The new book, *Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness* by Lars Anderson, shares more details about what ended Brady and Bündchen’s relationship. According to someone close to Brady, Bündchen told him they weren’t compatible after looking at the stars, as she’s really into astrology. After that, she was done, and their divorce went through.
The author also says Bündchen wanted Brady to retire after the 2017 Super Bowl win with the Patriots. She even asked him if it was the right time to stop playing. But Brady replied, “Too bad, babe. I’m having too much fun right now.”
After the Patriots lost the 2018 Super Bowl, Bündchen reportedly felt that Brady wasn’t fully present at home, always distracted by his phone or replaying games in his head. A former teammate said it must have been tough for her because of Brady’s busy lifestyle.
Brady later signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020 and won his seventh Super Bowl. He retired in February 2022 but came back for one last season before retiring for good the following year.
The book also says Brady took a break in August 2022 from Buccaneers training camp to try and save his marriage by going to a private resort in the Bahamas. Sadly, it didn’t work out.
These days, Brady is a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders NFL team, has a $375 million deal with Fox for broadcasting, and owns part of the English football club Birmingham City. While he’s been linked to a few women, he’s currently believed to be single.
