Tom Brady gets an official warning after saying some inappropriate things during NFL commentary on live TV.
Tom Brady recently got a call from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. because he swore during a live NFL broadcast. Even though he retired over three years ago, Brady is still one of the biggest names not just in the NFL, but in American sports overall. So it wasn’t surprising when he started working as a commentator this NFL season. However, things didn’t start off smoothly, as he had to apologize for a word he said live on air.
During his amazing career, Brady won seven Super Bowl titles over 23 seasons before retiring in 2023. A year later, he became Fox’s lead NFL analyst after signing a huge 10-year, $375 million deal back in May 2022, when he was still playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This deal made him the highest-paid sports broadcaster ever.
But even with his success, Brady has made a few slip-ups on air. In Week 2’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders, Brady swore when he saw Washington’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels, hurt his arm badly. “Oh s***,” Brady said right after seeing the injury but quickly said, “Excuse me,” when he realized.
Earlier in the same game, Brady got excited and swore again after Dallas Cowboys’ quarterback Dak Prescott threw an amazing 35-yard pass. “Absolute p*** missile up the sideline,” he said. Fans liked his energy, but Brady later shared that his swearing caught the attention of the FCC – a government agency that regulates communication.
On Instagram, Brady thanked his team and revealed he’d been contacted by the FCC about his language. He wrote: “There’s nothing I love more than working with my man Kevin Burkhardt and the whole NFL on Fox crew. I’m lucky to be part of such an amazing team. We love sharing our thoughts with the fans, who are more passionate than ever about the NFL.” He added with a laugh, “More miss pissles and turkey provolones coming this year… yes, I meant miss pissles, the FCC called me.”
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Brady also posted a video on Fox’s social media apologizing for his choice of words. “I’m kind of embarrassed,” he said. “I know there are a lot of grandmas watching who probably didn’t like my language on Fox. I’m going to fix that. Sorry, I apologize.”
