Man City star’s dad says players have a ‘special clause’ in their contracts as a big points deduction might happen
The dad of a Manchester City player has hinted that some players might have a special part in their contracts linked to the club breaking Premier League financial rules.
City was found guilty of 114 out of 115 charges after a long independent hearing. The news first came out on Friday, September 25.
On Tuesday, September 29, the Premier League confirmed the decision, saying City set up “fake contracts” to make their revenue look bigger and costs smaller.
If the club faces a big points deduction, top players like Erling Haaland and Enzo Fernandez could leave, especially if City gets relegated.
Emile Heskey, the former Liverpool striker and dad of City’s young player Jaden Heskey, told Casinolyze that players are probably already talking to their agents about moving.
He said, “This isn’t new news for the players; it’s been going on for a while. They’ve likely had talks with the club to ease their minds. I think players may have clauses in their contracts allowing them to leave if this happens. It didn’t just come out of nowhere.”
He also added, “A big points deduction seems like the least the club should get. It might be hard for City to stay up after that. What happens next could be tricky.”
The Premier League said City secretly arranged deals worth more than £830 million with commercial partners.
City deny these claims and say they have strong proof to support their case.
The commission also said City didn’t fully cooperate with the investigation and that some important witnesses gave false or dishonest evidence.
These charges cover nine years, from the 2009/10 to 2017/18 seasons, during which City won three Premier League titles.
City said on October 2 that they have appealed the decision. They released a statement saying, “We believe there are clear mistakes in law, facts, and principles in the Premier League’s opinion. We’re innocent and have proof to back us up. We will follow the legal process and can’t say more until it’s finished.”
If the appeal doesn’t go their way, City could face points deductions, transfer bans, relegation, or even losing their titles.
