Paul Scholes doesn’t agree with Wayne Rooney’s opinion on the possible punishment for Man City charges.

Wayne Rooney might feel a bit uneasy about accepting a Premier League medal awarded after the fact, but his old Manchester United teammate Paul Scholes is more than happy to claim the honor.
Earlier this week, Rooney said he probably wouldn’t accept a medal if Manchester City lose their 2011-12 Premier League title because of breaking financial rules. That season, United and City finished with the same points, but City won the title on goal difference after Sergio Aguero’s famous goal against Queens Park Rangers.
Rooney shared his thoughts on the Stick to United podcast with Mark Goldbridge, saying, “I wouldn’t feel right accepting the medal because I don’t think we earned it. We didn’t do enough that season to win the league. The City players did everything they could, and in their minds, they won it.” He added, “If it were the other way around and United had the medal taken away, I’d be really upset.”
Paul Scholes, on the other hand, posted on his Instagram story, “I keep hearing teammates say they want trophies taken off City but don’t want their medals. Forget that, I’m greedy—I want my medal!”
Rooney also wants the Premier League to take strong action, saying, “I’d put them in the lowest league possible and limit how much money they can spend for the next few seasons.” City denies any wrongdoing and plans to appeal the decision before the deadline.
